It did suffer from Big Dumb Object trope, but I forgave that because everything else was so awesome. They didn't look like anything I'd seen before. I really enjoyed the artistic direction of the game, especially Isaac's suits. It drew me into the game because they were speaking to me the player and instead of listening to voice acted lines which were things I wouldn't have said- expressing feelings I may not have been having- I was saying and thinking and feeling those things myself. Isaac never spoke in the first game either. When I played Dead Space, I had to pay attention, listen for sound cues (some of them false) and so forth. Auto aim games and no-consequence run and gun styles sometimes make you feel like it doesn't even matter who the player is holding the controller. The number one thing, for me, is that it made shooting fun again. ![]()
